So, let me tell you about me, my company and the job.

My name is Mike Tedesco and I run a fitness and nutrition coaching company called The Gym @ BodyFit, in Cross River, New York. My business is dedicated to helping women and men achieve their health and fitness goals through customized fitness and nutrition programs.

And business is booming!

My training center is located on Route 35, just east of 121 N. in Cross River (around the corner from John Jay High School).

If you are hired for this job, you'll need to come to the training center Monday & Friday 9:00 am – 3:00 pm, Tuesday & Thursday 3:00 pm – 9:00 pm, and Wednesdays 10:00 am – 4:00 pm. You will be compensated $10/hr. during a 90-day evaluation period, after which your evaluation will determine promotional opportunities.

Tasks I Need You to Perform


Answering and returning phone calls from customers and prospects. I don’t get a ton of phone calls, but the ones that come in are important. When you’re not here to answer the phone, many of the calls will go to voicemail. You’ll be responsible for returning those calls the next day.

Responding to customer service phone calls and emails. I get quite a few phone calls and emails every day. You will need to respond to each of these with basic information I’ll provide you. You need to be comfortable talking on the phone, using email and maintaining our training schedule.

Exceptional Communication Skills. This requires mental discipline in dealing with clients, members, walk-ins, prospects, training staff, therapists, vendors and management.

Training Scheduling and Time Management. The ideal candidate can easily and seamlessly maintain multiple calendars simultaneously and communicate changes through multiple mediums. I’ll teach you our system, but you’ll need the ability to handle multiple functions.

Sales Support. Develop a professional sales acumen to pre-qualify prospects sufficiently to securing and scheduling a sales consultation. Creating and distributing sales literature.

Collecting Metrics. MS Excel capabilities will make your primary task of collecting data on daily operations super easy. “What gets measured gets done” is our motto as we record;

Filing. Basic stuff to keep up with the flow of business, both paper based and digitally. Website management. Ideally, you’ll have some MS PowerPoint skills so you can do some

basic sketches and layouts to forward to our website management company.

Operational Support. Taking ownership of the day-to-day flow of the training center is important for exceptional client experience. Our Employee Handbook is a reflection of our structure and daily functions at BodyFit, and you must keep it fresh and up to date as a living document.

Required Skills

Microsoft Word. You must be very comfortable using Word.
Microsoft Publisher. We publish a monthly newsletter in publisher, and you’ll need to be

able to make edits/changes to the file when necessary and get it ready for print.

Microsoft Excel: You must have basic Excel skills. We do everything from simple to advanced with this software. Simple spreadsheets to complex workbooks. You must be comfortable and willing and able to learn what I need you to do.

Good phone personality/etiquette: You will be talking with my customers, who are VERY important to me, and prospective customers, who are also important. You must be comfortable conversing on the phone, in person, and through email. You must know how to conduct yourself professionally, take clear messages and deliver clear instructions to the prospect or client. I’ll teach you everything you need to say and do, but I can’t teach you manners and professionalism.

Email: A great deal of your work will be via email. Our marketing tools are constantly communicating with different segments of our database, and average over 8,000 outbound emails monthly. Following up on interested prospects or inquisitive clients will be a priority function.

Thoughtfulness and organization: I need you to be able to think for yourself and be organized. I am very serious about this one. I do not want a robot, I want someone who learns and grows with me.
